"Better than we expected. There are queues for the attractions, but the park is magnificent, with a wonderful sense of realism. Perhaps a PASS would be welcome for those who are impatient. We preferred waiting."

The Experience
What the 1-Day Studio Pass Covers
One day at Universal Studios Japan on the date you book, entered with a QR code. Express Passes, food and drinks are extra.
Highlights
- A 1-Day Studio Pass for your chosen date; Category A to F is the date's price tier, not a different ticket
- The park's PDF ticket with a QR code arrives by email at least 24 hours before your visit
- Park entry plus the regular attractions, themed areas and street shows
- Super Nintendo World is inside the park, but on busy days entry needs a free timed ticket from the USJ app
- Children 0 to 3 enter free; ages 4 to 11 need a child ticket
What's Included
- Universal Studios Japan 1-Day Admission Ticket (”Category A-F” indicates a price tier based on your visit date, not a different ticket type.)
- Access to most regular attractions, themed worlds, and street shows
How the E-Ticket Works
Four steps from booking to the gate.
Choose Your Date
Pick the day you want to visit. Prices follow the park's date-based tiers, shown as Category A to F, so the same ticket costs more on busy dates. The ticket is non-refundable, so settle the date first.
Watch for the PDF Ticket
The park's PDF ticket with a QR code arrives in a separate email at least 24 hours before your visit. The booking voucher is proof of purchase only and cannot be scanned at the gate.
Set Up the USJ App
Download the Universal Studios Japan app before you travel. On busy days, entering Super Nintendo World needs an Area Timed Entry Ticket or a Standby Entry Ticket, taken in the app on the day of your visit.
Scan In and Stay
Show the QR code at the gate and enter at any time during opening hours. Re-entry is not allowed, so once you are inside, plan to stay until you are done.

An Independent Guide to USJ Tickets
Universal Studios Japan Tickets: What to Buy, What It Covers, What Costs Extra
Studio Pass prices by date, the Super Nintendo World entry rule, where Express Passes are sold, and the train from Osaka Station.
The Universal Studios Japan ticket most visitors need is the 1-Day Studio Pass for their date, from $59 as of October 2026, and nothing more until they decide whether skipping queues is worth paying for. It gets you into the park and onto the regular rides. Super Nintendo World is inside the same gate but can need a free timed-entry ticket from the USJ app, and Express Passes, which cut the waits, are a separate purchase sold by the park.
What a Studio Pass covers, and what it does not
USJ prices its entry tickets by date. Adults are 12 and over, children 4 to 11 and seniors 65 and over; children 3 and under go free. On the park’s own store, as of October 2026, the cheapest dates start at:
- 1-Day Studio Pass: ¥8,400 adults, ¥5,500 children, ¥7,600 seniors
- 1.5-Day Studio Pass (day one from 15:00, day two from opening): ¥13,600 adults
- 2-Day Studio Pass: ¥16,000 adults
- Twilight Pass (entry from 15:00): ¥5,900 adults
Those are floors, not fixed prices. From visits on 1 September 2026, USJ can raise a date’s price after it goes on sale if demand grows. The e-ticket on this page works the same way: its Category A to F labels are price tiers by date, not different tickets.
Two rules matter on the day. No ticket except an annual pass lets you leave and come back. And the booking voucher is not your ticket: the park’s PDF with the QR code arrives by email at least 24 hours before your visit.
The Super Nintendo World rule
Super Nintendo World is part of the park, but on busy days you need an Area Timed Entry Ticket or a Standby Entry Ticket to walk in. Since 5 January 2026 these come only through the USJ app, on the day of your visit, and an Area Timed Entry Ticket: Advance Booking can be bought ahead. Whether you need one depends on the crowd that day. Selected Express Passes include guaranteed entry. The area grew by about 70% when Donkey Kong Country opened on 11 December 2024, with the Mine-Cart Madness coaster. Install the app before you travel.
The options compared
| Option (operator) | From | Rating (reviews) | Park ticket | Getting there | Cancellation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Universal Studios Japan Entry Ticket (GlobalTix JP) | $59 | 4.5 (1,604) | 1-Day Studio Pass | On your own | Non-refundable |
| Studio Pass & Private Transfer (REOTRIP) | $185 | 4.8 (13) | 1- or 2-day pass | Private car from an Osaka hotel, one way or both | 40% refund up to 24 hours before |
| Private Transfer to USJ (Hakuu) | $37 | 5.0 (7) | Not included | Private car from Osaka or Kyoto, both ways | Free up to 24 hours before |
Prices, ratings and review counts as of October 2026; operators change prices, so treat them as the shape of the market, not a quote.
None of the three includes an Express Pass, and none guarantees Super Nintendo World entry.
Express Passes: sold by the park, not here
An Express Pass shortens the wait on a set list of rides. This site does not sell them. USJ sells them on its own online ticket store and through travel agencies, and guests of its partner hotels can buy them on their check-in day and the day after. As of October 2026 the park lists them from ¥6,800 for an Express Pass 4, ¥12,200 for a 5, ¥14,100 for a 7, ¥15,500 for an 8 and ¥27,600 for the Premium, the same price at every age. Prices vary by date and stock, and they can sell out on busy days. Each guest needs their own, you still need a Studio Pass, and the park voids QR codes on resold tickets. If you want one, secure it before the non-refundable entry ticket.
Who each option suits
Pick by how you want to reach the gate:
1-Day Studio Pass E-Ticket
Your date, a QR code by email, and a 15-minute train ride.
Check dates →Studio Pass + Private Transfer
A 1- or 2-day pass with a private car from your Osaka hotel.
See this package →Private Transfer from Osaka or Kyoto
Round trip for your group; bring your own park tickets.
See this transfer →The e-ticket suits nearly everyone staying in central Osaka, because the train is quick and cheap.
The pass-and-car package suits families with small children or bags who would rather not change trains. A round-trip return pickup is set for 20:00 unless you ask the operator at least 24 hours ahead, and child seats cost $23 each way. The e-tickets arrive within 7 days of your visit.
The transfer on its own suits groups staying in Kyoto, or anyone who already holds tickets and Express Passes from the park’s store. You get a 7- or 10-seat vehicle by group size, and an optional guide can spend the day in the park with you.
Getting there, timing and money
Train. Universal City Station is on the JR Yumesaki Line, also called the Sakurajima Line. From Osaka Station several direct trains run each hour, about 15 minutes for ¥200, and other trains need a change at Nishikujo. The gate is a five-minute walk from the station.
Hours and queues. Opening times change with the date, so check the park’s calendar for your day and be at the gate before opening. Waits for headline rides such as Harry Potter and The Flying Dinosaur can reach two to three hours in peak seasons. One day covers the park if you accept that or buy an Express Pass; the 1.5-Day pass adds an evening before a full second day.
This year. USJ opened on 31 March 2001; its 25th-anniversary year, Discover U!!!, runs from March 2026.
Money. Food and merchandise carts, the car parks and a few other spots take yen cash only; elsewhere in the park, major cards issued abroad work.
A park day takes a full day, so it sits best in the middle of a stay; the Osaka itinerary shows where it fits. On a lighter day, Osaka Castle takes a morning, and an Osaka sumo show fills an afternoon or evening.

What Recent Guests Say
"An AMAZING experience! Universal Studios Japan is an incredible place that you absolutely must visit and, above all, experience at least once in your life! Every area of the park is meticulously designed, with spectacular sets and an atmosphere that completely transports you to another world. Personally, I absolutely loved the Harry Potter area – it's truly magical and immersive – but the whole park is wonderful! We hadn't bought the Express Pass and, despite this, we managed to go on several rides with waiting times of about 20 minutes, especially the less popular ones. For the most famous and popular rides, however, the lines can get really long, so I would consider buying the Express Pass to optimize your time and enjoy as many attractions as possible. You definitely have to factor in some waiting time, especially during peak periods, but it's absolutely worth it. A spectacular, fun and unforgettable experience"
"We didn’t use express passes as they were sold out by the time we thought about it. We had 13 and 16 yo and got to the park at 7. Once in we did our big 4 rides together then for a lot of rides we went as single passengers which meant staying in line together but for the 3 minutes of the ride we separated. Sometimes we ended up in the same vehicle and we always went within a couple of minutes of each other. So no waiting at the end for anyone. The kids managed 3 consecutive rides on the flying dinosaur within about 30 minutes in this way. Due to Halloween it was more packed from 5-10pm on-top of an already busy park. The zombies were fabulous but pretty scary for young kids. 15 hours of fun and an excellent day all up."
"We bought express passes, but these are limited. If you want unrestricted access, it's extremely expensive."
"My family and I enjoyed our whole day with USJ. One for the books for sure. The line was really so long so its best to plan your day ahead."
"It's soooooo nice. It's an incredibly large and fun theme park. You should definitely set aside a day for it."
"It was a shame that it was a public holiday, as there was a lot more waiting in line, but otherwise the atmosphere was magical and festive, relaxed and fun."
"Seamless, get your guide was very useful! Fast pass was needed though. If waiting in line is not your thing then I’d consider buying a fast pass."

Check AvailabilityUniversal Studios Japan Tickets: Questions Answered
Prices by date, Super Nintendo World entry, Express Passes, re-entry and the train from Osaka Station.
A 1-Day Studio Pass starts at ¥8,400 for adults, ¥5,500 for children aged 4 to 11 and ¥7,600 for over-65s on the cheapest dates, as of October 2026. Prices are set per date and can rise after sale on busy days. The e-ticket for the same pass starts at $59; see its details.
For most visitors it is the 1-Day Studio Pass, plus an Express Pass only if you will not queue. The 1.5-Day Studio Pass, from ¥13,600 for adults, adds an afternoon from 15:00 before a full day, and the Twilight Pass, from ¥5,900, covers entry from 15:00. The comparison above sets out the three products on this page.
Buy a dated ticket online before you go, either from the park's own store or as an e-ticket like the one on this page. A ticket bought ahead lets you walk straight in with its QR code. With this e-ticket, the park's PDF ticket reaches you by email at least 24 hours before your visit; the ticket page has the details.
One day covers the park if you arrive before opening and either accept long queues or buy an Express Pass. Waits for the headline rides can reach two to three hours in peak seasons. Without an Express Pass, the 1.5-Day pass gives you an evening from 15:00 and then a full day; the Osaka itinerary shows how a park day fits.
They are in different cities, so the choice usually follows where you are staying: Universal Studios Japan is in Osaka, and Tokyo Disney Resort is in Urayasu, next to Tokyo. USJ is the one with Super Nintendo World, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Minion Park, about 15 minutes by train from Osaka Station. If your base is Osaka, Osaka Castle makes a calmer second day.
USJ prices each day rather than each month, so the cheapest visit is any date on the lowest tier of the park's price calendar. As of October 2026 the lowest adult 1-Day price is ¥8,400, a tier introduced for visits from 1 September 2026, and a date's price can rise after sale when demand grows. The date picker above shows the e-ticket price for each day.
Pick a low-priced date, or enter late with the Twilight Pass, from ¥5,900 for adults. Children 3 and under go free, and child tickets for ages 4 to 11 start at ¥5,500. Some deals, such as the winter Holiday Kids Free Pass, are only for people living in Japan; the e-ticket starts at $59 as of October 2026.
You pay nothing extra, but on busy days you need a free Area Timed Entry Ticket or Standby Entry Ticket from the USJ app. Since 5 January 2026 these are issued only through the app on the day, and an Area Timed Entry Ticket: Advance Booking can also be bought ahead. Selected Express Passes include guaranteed entry; the comparison shows that none of the products here does.
From the park: USJ's own online ticket store, travel agencies, and its partner hotels for their guests. This site does not sell Express Passes. As of October 2026 they start at ¥6,800 for an Express Pass 4, the same price at every age, and each guest still needs a Studio Pass such as the 1-Day e-ticket.
No: apart from annual passes, USJ tickets do not allow re-entry once you leave. Plan to eat inside, and carry some yen, since food carts take cash only. If you want the visit in two parts, the 1.5-Day pass splits it over two days, and an Osaka sumo show makes a short plan for the other evening.
Take a JR train to Universal City Station: several direct trains an hour take about 15 minutes for ¥200. Other trains need a change at Nishikujo onto the JR Yumesaki Line, also called the Sakurajima Line, and the gate is a five-minute walk from the station. For a private car instead, see the Osaka and Kyoto transfer.
Children are 4 to 11, adults 12 and over and seniors 65 and over, and children 3 and under enter free. Japan switches by school year, so a child starting junior high school in April pays the adult price from 1 April; visitors on other school calendars go by age on the day. The e-ticket uses the same age bands.
